Well here I sit, and why you ask?
My person is sneaky, I must be on task
She’s pacing and gathering
A shift’s in the air
Oh, I know the signs
Does she think I won’t care?
She’s gearing up to go
Somewhere close, maybe far
Either way let’s be clear
I’ll be in the car
She’s easily outwitted, if truth be told
A wiggle, a stare, a bark if I’m bold
The car door cracks, I make my move
Once I’m in, she needn’t approve
Then it starts – I’ll wait her out
I invented this game, lest there be doubt
She’s coming, she’s coming!
Nope … back inside
Probably getting some snacks for the ride
Lamb bits, maybe duck, biscuits and the rest
(Please God in heaven let her skip the sun vest!)
She’s coming, she’s coming!
Nope … not quite yet
It always comes to this, I always forget
Maybe I’ll go in, check out what’s what
But cross the threshold – bam – door shut
She’d like that, wouldn’t she? Gets her way
What does she think, I was born yesterday?
No, I’ll be in the car, thank you very much
…Ooh, crumbs in the seat, tide me ’til lunch
Wonder if there’s time to step out for a poo
Good spot ’round the corner, heck pavement will do
Wait, this is it – this time it’s a go!
Works every time, just so you know
dear little one in the car
do not worry, she’s not far
any moment now
perhaps mum’ll show
to give me a rub…….
Better yet, bring me some grub!
